Mission Statement
RECOGNIZE AND HONOR THE SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF OUR MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS, DIPS AND OTHER GOVERNMENT AND CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES THAT SERVED IN ASSIGNMENTS AT OR CONNECTED WITH POSTS, BASES AND FACILITIES AT HOME AND ABROAD.

* A unique talk show for the American audience that appeals to civilians and military alike. It offers cutting edge discussions that explore topics relating to the lives of those who grew up as children of military service members or State Department employees assigned to live and work at facilities across the United States and around the world.

* Provides an unvarnished discussion of experiences living on both domestic and overseas military installations and encourages dialogue with those who experienced a more “traditional” upbringing.

* Challenges narrow perspectives of those who have not lived for extended periods in countries other than the United States and seeks to expand the appreciation for unique aspects of different cultures around the world.

* Is the authority of life at military installations in the US and around the world and as such is a great source of information and encouragement for those active duty families that serve today.

* Helps the “civilian” world understand the fullness and breadth of the “Brat” experience.

Who is BRATCON?

Dennis Campbell - Dennis is a BRAT, lived in Germany in the 1970’s and graduated from Heidelberg, American High School. He also served in the US Army from 1976-1980, in the Army’s Military Police Corp and later Criminal Investigation Division, assigned to covert narcotics trafficking suppression operations in Germany. A veteran marketing executive of the General Aviation and Airline industries, he was also a nationally recognized Vice President of Marketing & Sales in the “Tourism Destination Marketing” profession and today, Dennis owns and operates a real estate company based in Phoenix, Arizona specializing in retail, boutique hotel and custom residential home transactions.

Jeri Glass - Jeri is an AF BRAT and was an Army spouse, a double dipper! She grew up in Germany in the '60s & early '70's and then did Army time in Southeast Asia (India, Thailand, Nepal & Bangladesh). She is a Military Reunion planner, the Director of the Berlin Brats, (Berlin American High School's Alumni Association) and also serves as the 1st Vice-President of Overseas Brats, an association of all Brats-all schools-all years. The first Brat to serve on the board of the American Overseas School Historical Society (AOSHS). A former “bean counter,” Jeri lives in the Phoenix, AZ area.

Evan Montes - Evan, although not a BRAT himself, has developed a unique perspective on the military BRAT culture. Born in Albuquerque, NM, he spent the first 26 years of his life in the same city before earning his degree from the University of New Mexico and moving to San Diego, CA. This is where he met his wife, Ginger, a Marine and soon after gained an insight into his new “military” friends and their children’s lives. In 2008, Evan and his wife lived and worked in Japan as ESL (English as a Foreign Language) Instructors and today, Evan owns and operates iON, a multicultural recruiting organization dedicated to connecting enthusiastic college graduates with ESL opportunities in Japan and worldwide.

Cate Speer - Born as a military BRAT in Ft. Hood, TX Cate moved 10 times before graduating from her third high school. Ending her “military BRAT career” didn’t stop her nomadic lifestyle as she’s had as many addresses as she is years old (43) spending almost two-thirds of her life in the US in 14 states and the other 16 years in 5 countries on 3 other continents. She spent 3 years in the US Army as a helicopter mechanic serving in Korea and also Saudi Arabia & Iraq during Desert Storm. It took her 4 different colleges/universities before she graduated summa cum laude from Georgia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. She’s currently working for 3M as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. That’s nothing to do with karate, but with continual process improvements. It’s no wonder that her life has been so disjointed and spread out yet her main passion is to gather, organize and include.
